Future Value Workshops

Build the team that's prepared for what's next.

Future Value Framework™ workshops help people understand what will keep them relevant, what can expand their impact, and how leaders can make more deliberate decisions about where and how to invest in talent.

These are highly interactive learning experiences—not presentations about a framework. Participants reflect, discuss, test assumptions, work through realistic scenarios, and practice applying Future Value thinking to themselves and the people they lead.

Available onsite or live virtual. Workshops are designed for organizational delivery.

STAY RELEVANT Build the capacity to remain valuable as expectations, technology, roles, and organizational needs evolve.
BUILD FUTURE VALUE OVER TIME
EXPAND YOUR IMPACT Extend contribution beyond individual effort and create broader value across the organization.
A Different Learning Experience

Future Value is learned by working with it.

The idea is simple: the value someone creates today is not the same as their capacity to keep creating value as work changes. The harder work is learning to recognize the difference, examine Future Value across multiple dimensions, and make better decisions because of what you see.

That is why Future Value workshops are built around active application. Participants do not simply hear the concepts—they use them to examine real questions about relevance, impact, development, contribution, and talent investment.

A workshop—not an information session. The goal is not simply to understand Future Value. It is to leave able to think and act differently because of it.
Individual Reflection Examine your own assumptions, strengths, vulnerabilities, and growth opportunities.
Facilitated Discussion Challenge conventional thinking and learn from different perspectives in the room.
Case Studies Apply Future Value tools to realistic leadership, workforce, and talent situations.
Scenarios & Simulations Practice decisions before the stakes are real, weigh tradeoffs, and see how different choices shape outcomes.
Partner Activities Compare perspectives, challenge assumptions, and test your thinking with another participant.
Small-Group Activities Surface different perspectives, build shared language, and deepen understanding through active application.
Three Workshop Experiences

Choose Your Path.

Future Value Fundamentals™ creates the common foundation. From there, participants can go deeper into their own Future Value or leaders can learn how to make better investment decisions for the people and teams they lead.

FOUNDATIONAL WORKSHOP · 3 HOURS

Future Value Fundamentals™

What will help me stay relevant and expand my impact as work evolves?

A highly interactive introduction to Future Value and the six dimensions that shape the capacity to continue creating meaningful value over time.

Participants build a shared Future Value language, examine how value is changing, and reflect on their own strengths, vulnerabilities, and opportunities to grow.

No prerequisite · Standalone workshop · Appropriate for any workforce level
Best for: employee groups, leaders, professional-development programs, cross-functional cohorts, leadership teams, or organizations introducing Future Value for the first time.
What You'll Explore
  • Why Future-Ready and Future Value are related—but different
  • How changing work alters what creates value
  • The six dimensions of Future Value Capacity
  • Stay Relevant and Expand Your Impact
  • Personal strengths and vulnerabilities across the six dimensions
  • How different combinations of dimensions create different Future Value patterns
  • Where focused growth could strengthen Future Value
What You'll Do

Participants move between individual reflection, paired and table activities, whole-group discussion, scenarios, and practical Future Value experiments they can continue after the workshop.

What You'll Leave With

A clear understanding of Future Value, a working knowledge of all six dimensions, greater insight into personal strengths and vulnerabilities, and practical ways to continue building Future Value after the workshop.

INDIVIDUAL APPLICATION

Investing in Your Future Value™

Where and how should I invest in my own Future Value?

This workshop helps individuals move from understanding Future Value to making more deliberate choices about where to focus their own development, experiences, relationships, exposure, and learning.

Participants learn how Current Contribution and Future Value Capacity answer different questions—and how investment choices should change based on what actually needs to grow.

Prerequisite: Future Value Fundamentals™
Best for: individuals at any level—including managers and leaders—who want to make more intentional decisions about their own continued relevance, growth, and impact.
What You'll Explore
  • Current Contribution versus Future Value Capacity
  • The Future Value Investment Grid™ and its nine positions
  • Why a Grid position is a starting point—not the decision
  • When to strengthen Current Contribution, Future Value Capacity, or both
  • How six-dimension strengths and vulnerabilities change the investment response
  • How to protect strengths while addressing consequential constraints
  • Development through experiences, exposure, relationships, learning, and technology
  • How limited time and resources change investment choices
What You'll Do

Participants work through individual cases and investment scenarios, compare alternatives, test tradeoffs, and practice selecting investments that address the right Future Value need.

Important Distinction

This workshop teaches the investment logic and judgment behind the Framework. It does not substitute for the formal Future Value Assessment™ or a personalized Future Value Investment Strategy™.

LEADER APPLICATION

Investing in the Future Value of Others™

Where and how should I invest in the Future Value of the people I lead?

Designed for managers and leaders, this workshop applies Future Value thinking to one of leadership's hardest responsibilities: deciding how to invest finite development, attention, opportunity, support, and stretch across different people and needs.

Participants practice separating evidence from assumption, distinguishing Current Contribution from Future Value Capacity, and choosing differentiated investment responses.

Prerequisite: Future Value Fundamentals™
Best for: people managers, executives, HR and talent leaders, succession-planning participants, and others responsible for development or talent-investment decisions.
What You'll Explore
  • Current Contribution versus Future Value Capacity
  • Evidence, intent, impact, and common rating bias
  • The Future Value Investment Grid™ and nine investment positions
  • Differentiating development, opportunity, support, exposure, stretch, and coaching
  • Low Current Contribution / high Future Value and high Current Contribution / low Future Value
  • Portfolio thinking when leadership resources are finite
  • How to communicate investment decisions responsibly
  • Individual and group-level investment scenarios
What You'll Do

Leaders rate evidence, compare judgments, work through talent cases, use the Investment Grid, debate competing investment strategies, and practice targeting the intervention to the actual constraint.

Important Distinction

The workshop builds investment judgment. Formal individual or team Grid placement requires the applicable Future Value Assessment™ and Current Contribution assessment through the Future Value Investment Strategy™.

How the Workshops Fit Together

One foundation. Two ways to go deeper.

Future Value Fundamentals™ establishes the language, six dimensions, and core Future Value lens. The two investment workshops build on that foundation for different audiences and different decisions.

FOR YOURSELF

Investing in Your Future Value™

Apply the investment lens to your own continued growth, relevance, and impact.

FOR PEOPLE YOU LEAD

Investing in the Future Value of Others™

Apply the investment lens to development and talent decisions for others.

Fundamentals is the required prerequisite for both investment workshops. The two investment workshops are parallel paths; one is not a prerequisite for the other.
Experience Future Value Thinking

The framework changes the questions people ask.

Try three of the kinds of judgment questions that surface during a Future Value workshop. Select a statement to reveal the Future Value lens.

Two employees are delivering the same strong results today. Should they receive the same development investment?
Not necessarily. Similar Current Contribution can mask very different Future Value strengths, vulnerabilities, and development needs. The right investment depends on what each person needs to sustain or expand value next.
Someone is the go-to expert and almost impossible to replace today. Does that automatically mean high Future Value?
No. Being difficult to replace can be valuable, but Future Value also depends on adaptability, transferability, resilience, scalability, and the ability to create leverage beyond individual expertise.
A manager wants to send a struggling employee to training. Is that a Future Value investment?
Maybe—but only if training addresses the actual constraint. FVF asks whether the problem is Current Contribution, Future Value Capacity, both, or something in the surrounding environment before selecting the intervention.
From Learning to Lasting Change

It starts with a workshop. It ends with lasting change.

The live workshop creates the insight and shared language. Future Value Reinforcement™ helps keep that learning active after the session—then organizations can extend the framework through assessment, investment strategy, and continued application.

STEP 1 · LEARN

Experience the Framework

Build understanding through reflection, discussion, practice, and application in a facilitated Future Value workshop.

→
STEP 2 · REINFORCE

Keep the Learning Active

Use structured follow-through to revisit key ideas, apply them in real work, and strengthen transfer beyond the workshop.

→
STEP 3 · EXTEND

Apply Future Value More Deeply

Continue through formal assessment, Future Value Investment Strategy™, or broader application in development and talent decisions.

Future Value Reinforcement™ continues the work after the workshop. Explore the reinforcement approach, structure, and ways it supports workshops, assessments, and investment strategy.
